Alright Little Lady

I am the kind of person who uses my calendar religiously. Want to make plans? Let me check my calendar. My next available appointment is next Thursday at 6 – will that work for you? Yeah, I know its obnoxious, but that’s who I am, and that’s where we are.

So last Friday (at the time of writing this – not necessarily the time of posting this), when my brother texted me and said there was gonna be a baby, I went to great lengths to cancel all my plans for the day and hurry “home”. (This is a pretty big deal for me, one of my most-used phrases is “sorry, I don’t do same-day appointments because my calendar is just that full).

And then…. we waited, and we waited, and we waited. Three days later, I finally had to call it quits and head back to reality because, you know, obligations and such.

We are still waiting, and as I tried to explain to my boss why I called in for no apparent reason (“home” is a 2 hour drive) I joked that I was gonna get the baby a calendar as her first present (contextually inaccurate, since I’ve been buying her gifts for months now).

So, I guess then, what I’m really trying to say is, “Alright Little Lady, hurry up and get here – I’m excited to meet you, and we are on a tight schedule!”

What is something you’ve had to wait for recently? How did you handle it? Any tips for being more patient? Let me know in the comments below!
